Symbolizing the Hope in Recovery
The website for the Washington County (Maryland) Arts Council is hosting a series of videos featuring artist statements about their work. For example, Linda Barnhart describes her piece—a portrait of a young woman which was painted on plaster that had been broken into pieces and glued to a canvas. Titled “Restoring the broken pieces,” the fractured portrait is described by Barnhart as indicative of the brokenness that comes with addiction and the process of recovery that puts a person’s life back together.
