The NIDA Clinical Trials Network (CTN) is a nationwide consortium that conducts multisite clinical trials and research studies to improve the treatment of substance use disorders (SUDs) and related conditions. Established by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the CTN bridges the gap between research and clinical practice by partnering with academic institutions, healthcare providers, and community treatment programs to evaluate and implement evidence-based interventions.
The Rutgers Center of Alcohol & Substance Use Studies (CAS) has now become a partner with the NIDA CTN, Greater New York Regional Node, contributing to its mission through collaborative research, data analysis, and dissemination efforts. Faculty and researchers from CAS will have opportunities to become engaged in multiple CTN studies, bringing expertise in addiction science, behavioral interventions, and clinical trial methodology. CAS’s involvement enhances the network’s capacity to explore innovative treatments for SUDs, integrate trauma-focused approaches, and address health disparities in substance use treatment.
Through this partnership, CAS continues to play a key role in advancing translational research, ensuring that findings from CTN studies inform real-world clinical practice and improve outcomes for individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.
