TRACC SUMMER SYMPOSIUM
The Translational Research Training in Addictions for Racial/Ethnic Minorities TRACC Summer Symposium event occurred July 17, 2023, through July 20, 2023! The TRACC Summer Symposium keynote was delivered by Dr. Micah Johnson who shared personal experiences with research on justice-involved youth. Dr Johnson emphasized the significance of approaching research with a sociological imagination, a perspective that understands how personal experiences are shaped by historical processes and social structures. Following the keynote address, TRACC scholars presented, showcasing the broad spectrum of addiction research topics included investigating cardiovascular health among individuals with opioid use disorder by Dillon Murugesan, and how sex differences in parental tobacco prompting impact tobacco use outcomes in emerging Black adults by Wynta Alexander. Several of the TRACC fellows are graduating this summer.
