Rutgers/NYU CTN Partners Visit Integrity House
This September, colleagues from Rutgers Partners and the NYU Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Node came together at Integrity House in Newark, NJ.
Since 1968, Integrity House has provided substance use treatment and recovery support to individuals and families in New Jersey. The organization offers a range of services, including residential and outpatient treatment, supportive housing, mental health services, and recovery support. Integrity House’s mission is “to help individuals and families through an effective and measurable system of comprehensive Therapeutic Community addictions treatment, mental health treatment, and recovery support in a way that brings about positive, long-term, lifestyle change” (About | Integrity House).
The site visit provided an invaluable opportunity to learn more about Integrity House’s commitment to substance use treatment and recovery while strengthening connections among researchers, community partners, and those working directly with people and families impacted by addiction. The visit highlighted the value of community-engaged research and the importance of bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise to understand community needs, advance research, and improve health outcomes. Building relationships between researchers and community treatment providers helps ensure that substance use research reflects the needs and experiences of the communities it serves, an important part of CAS’s commitment to advancing evidence-based solutions from discovery to clinical application.
