Emmanuel D. Thomas, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center of Alcohol & Substance Use Studies, Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. He earned a B.A. from Georgetown University in 2018. He earned an M.A. in clinical psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2022. He completed a predoctoral internship at the University of Pittsburgh’s Western Psychiatric Hospital and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island in 2025. Emmanuel’s research identifies culturally-informed risk and protective factors for the development and maintenance of co-morbid trauma-related psychopathology and alcohol use in racially marginalized communities, including the roles of racial stressors, ethnic identity, and religious coping.
