  1. To conduct research on the development, prevention, and treatment of substance use, misuse, and dependence using cutting-edge biological, psychological, and sociocultural paradigms.

  2. Develop, implement, and evaluate theory-driven educational intervention and prevention programs and services for target populations and communities.

  3. Provide educational and training experiences to Rutgers undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-baccalaureates, post-doctoral fellows, paraprofessionals, and professionals interested in improving the lives of individuals with a substance use disorder.

  4. Contribute to the dialog around public policies that impact alcohol and drug use, misuse, and dependence.
