PROJECT AREA 2
Developing Brief Interventions for Drug Abuse Prevention for College Students

Description:
This project is directed by Dr. Helene R. White and aims to identify, assess, and modify strategies to assist students during the transition to college to reduce their substance use and related problems.

The key investigators include: Linda Lederman and Lea Stewart from the Rutgers Department of Communication, Lisa Laitman from the Rutgers Alcohol and Drug Assistance Program for Students, Alan Marlatt from the Washington Psychology Department, and Thomas Morgan from the Center of Alcohol Studies.

Currently, the project team is focusing on developing, modifying, implementing, and evaluating various "brief" interventions that are cost effective and practical. These interventions are being designed for high-risk college students, including mandated students and student athletes.
