GENERAL INFORMATION


The Information Services Division houses the Center's extensive research library and the collections of the New Jersey Alcohol/Drug Resource Center and Clearinghouse. The Library's purpose is to document the world's scholarly, scientific, and professional English-language literature on psychoactive substance use, with a particular focus on beverage alcohol. A major task of the Library is to organize and disseminate information for scientists, scholars, and clinicians in the field. The Clearinghouse provides materials on alcohol/drug issues for educators, community workers, and other interested persons and groups in New Jersey.

Activities:

  • Maintains a collection of over 100,000 research and professional materials on all aspects of alcohol use and abuse Provides a collection of selected alcohol/drug educational materials, including textbooks, curricula, pamphlets, and training manuals Maintains special collections of historical and archival materials
  • Offers a collection of alcohol/drug videotapes for loan within New Jersey

The Alcohol Studies Library serves all types of users including:

  • Researchers and graduate students
  • Treatment personnel
  • Health and social service professionals
  • Students and educators
  • State and community agencies

The Center Library serves the Center of Alcohol Studies faculty and staff, the Rutgers University community, and the public.
