  • The Johnson & Johnson School Health Leadership Program (formerly the Johnson & Johnson School Nurse Fellowship Program) is a unique opportunity for selected school systems to participate in a nationality established education program.

Program
  The objective of the School Health Leadership Program is to reduce risky behaviors among youth through health education programs led by school nurses. The program is structured to increase the participants’ knowledge of adolescent health issues, the causes and correlates of adolescent risk behaviors, and best practices in health education program.
Participants
School systems invited to take part in the 2008 Johnson & Johnson Health Leadership Program will send school nurses to a five-day program in July. As a condition for acceptance into the program, the school principal from the site where the school nurse spends most of her/his time must agree to attend two days of the program.
Program Costs and Stipends
  Johnson & Johnson meets all costs associated with the program through the Worldwide Corporate Contributions Program. This includes travel to and from New Brunswick, meals, education materials, tuition and special events. Expenses for both school nurses and principals are covered by Johnson & Johnson, which provides an individual stipend of $500 to each school Nurse completing the program.
Logistics

The new Heldrich Center, which is a full service conference center, in New Brunswick, NJ, is the location for the program. Participants will be housed in single rooms in this beautiful facility; meals will be served in the on-site restaurant, and classes will take place in a conference room. An indoor pool and exercise room are also on site.

Certificate

A certificate of attendance is awarded to all who successfully complete the program. The school nurses will be awarded 4.0. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and the principals will receive 2.0 CEUs for their participation.

Implementation Grant

Each school nurse-administrator team may apply for a $1,000 grant to implement a program idea generated during the program.
