CLINICAL DIVISION
The Center’s Clinical Division has three primary missions:
- To conduct basic and applied research on the assessment and treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders.
- To educate, teach and train health care professionals in training about applied research and science-based assessment and treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders.
- To provide state-of-the-art services to persons with alcohol and drug use disorders.
The Clinical Division is broadly responsible for clinical research, clinical services, and training of students in clinical research and clinical services. Specific aspects of the Clinical Division mission are to:
- Develop, implement, evaluate and report on model clinical services for the treatment of psychoactive substance use disorders;
- Conduct basic research on the nature of psychoactive substance use disorders;
Conduct controlled research on innovative clinical services or techniques, and innovative treatment delivery systems;
- Conduct research on the nature and costs of change in psychoactive substance use disorders;
Teach and train health care and other professionals and professionals-in-training about assessment and treatment of psychoactive substance use problems;
- Teach and train health care and other professionals and professionals-in-training about applied research models and techniques;
- Influence, participate in and lead in health care planning and policy-making regarding service delivery and research agendas at national, state, community and University levels.
