About The Center of Alcohol Studies

The mission of the Center of Alcohol Studies (CAS) spans the translational continuum and includes:

  1. Conducting research on the development, prevention, and treatment of substance use, misuse, and dependence using cutting-edge biological, psychological, and sociocultural paradigms.
  2. Developing, implementing, and evaluating theory-driven educational intervention and prevention programs and services for target populations and communities.
  3. Proving educational and training experiences to Rutgers undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-baccalaureates, post-doctoral fellows, paraprofessionals, and professionals interested in improving the lives of individuals with a substance use disorder.
  4. Contributing to the dialog around public policies that impact alcohol and drug use, misuse, and dependence.
